Getting a sense of the wonderful gifts of God and His vision for our lives will equip us to break out of a mindset of fear or lack, and embrace the adventure that He calls us to.

We were deeply blessed to be joined by Sarah Butler, leader (along with her husband Matt) of Bognor Regis Salvation Army. God is a 'Missionary': Throughout Scripture, and ultimately in Jesus, God goes to His creation to save and restore. Sarah shared about our call to join in with that missionary task - not simply as an 'activity' of the church, but as its whole reason for being and the central focus of what it means to be a disciple. She explored three principle 'directions' in this lifestyle ('Up', 'In' and 'Out') modelled by Jesus.

In a partner message to our Easter Sunday talk, Jamie unpacks how the idea of ‘Justice’ fits in with the vision of Grace and Forgiveness revealed by the Cross and Empty Tomb. He suggests that rather than being opposite forces to balance somehow, God’s Love and Justice are intertwined and indivisible; They call us to a creative way of being in order to ‘do justice’ in the world.

In our Easter service we contemplate the joy and mystery of the Crucifixion and Resurrection, death transformed into Life! This is the Story we Live By: the great narrative that both gives us life and also guides and shapes that living. Jamie reflects on some traditions around Holy Saturday as that 'liminal space' between the Cross and the Empty Tomb, as a means of recalibrating our awareness and wonder of God's unfathomable Love and Grace.

As Jesus resolutely looks towards Jerusalem, the Twelve and others demonstrate how little they have understood of His purpose. Several make right donkeys of themselves! Palm Sunday shows that even a donkey can serve to carry Jesus... which gives us all hope! Luke 9 v28-62. As Holy Week begins, we will take Jesus with us, wherever we go...

The Cross is a powerful symbol, but what is that power and how does it confront our worldly notions of the nature of power? As we begin a short series approaching Good Friday and Easter Sunday, Jamie wonders what might have been in the minds of some of the key actors in the unfolding drama. As Christians, our spiritual life is not an isolated 'inwardness' but a conversation with the Being at the centre of all Being... God Himself! God is speaking, and we would do well to listen! But Scripture suggests that God speaks in various ways at different times: We would be wise to avoid assumptions and approach with openness, humility and diligence.
