Revolting... Love

Many people have seen the 'Sermon on the Mount' as the centrepiece of Jesus' teaching about the kingdom of heaven, and what it is to be one of his disciples. What he unpacks is a revolution that turns the way of the world on its head! And we are invited to be part of that revolt: To cast aside the power of religion and instead live in the way of world transforming love.

Tree of Life pt4: Tree Houses

As Christians we have a future hope in spending eternity with Jesus. However, Nick suggests that our understanding of end times has led to a theology of evacuation, where our responsibility for creation care is limited to the idea that earth is only temporary, and life in the age to come will be ’somewhere else’. In contrast, the Bible points to an age to come that is earthy, where a new heaven and a new earth will come together, and how we are called to participate in God’s Kingdom being brought to earth.

Tree of Life pt3: Seasons

In the Creation stories of Genesis 1 & 2, there is a powerful sense of structure, shape and rhythm. The Sabbath rest gives definition to Creation, and is born out again and again in Scripture and experience as essential if we are to live lives of fullness and balance. In this week's talk, Jamie explores how recognising the seasons and how they relate to space, time and things is fundamental to our well being.

Gaining a more complete understanding of our relationship with God can help us connect with creation on a deeper level. Through the theme of incarnation, Nick suggests that we are called to care for our world because it is intrinsically entwined in Christ. If we embrace the sacredness of our world then how will this challenge our outlook towards it?

Leave My Joy Alone

Joy is a gift for all of us but it is a gift that is frequently taken or snatched away. Alister looks at the version of Joy that God has for us, investigates the various ways that Joy can be taken and suggests how we can gain access to a deeper and more consistent Joy.

Family Matters

Whilst our individual family experiences conjure up mixed feelings, our society places great emphasis on the importance of the family nucleus. In this talk, Nick reflects on the key passages in which Jesus talks about family and the context around them. Through this lens we're reminded of how Jesus calls us to form our identity around him. He came to liberate us from any societal norm that may be holding us back, whilst also calling us to honour those from whom our past identities were formed.
