This week we return to our series looking through the book of Acts. Jamie picks things up in the second half of chapter 9, which contains some dramatic stories and anecdotes from the life of the early church. We use this as an opportunity to see how these stories resonate with our own personal stories: The Bible is a 'living word' and is one of the ways that God can bring revelation, understanding and healing into our lives today.

Which Route/Root?

In this message Dave explores the connections between routing and rooting as we seek to follow the God who reveals himself to us. There’s an element of searching, ‘rooting about’ evident as Jesus teaches us to “Seek first the Kingdom of God and righteousness…” Alongside this, we must also consider where our ‘roots’ are, and which ‘route’ we are travelling. One Thing

The Many of The One

In the Apostle Paul's first letter to the Corinthians, he describes God's people as members of one body, with individual roles and gifts. Nick uses this passage to help us consider what we are 'masters' of. He encourages us to reflect on what God has placed on our hearts and to not be afraid to live out those aspirations and giftings. Finally, we consider our place in the body of Christ, and what part we have to play in furthering His Kingdom in our community.

Mountain Adventure

The Sermon on the Mount is sometimes seen as the centrepiece of Christian discipleship: three chapters of Jesus' teaching to his disciples that turn worldly assumptions on their head, challenge expectations and provoke new thinking, and offer an unprecedented insight into the Kingdom of God. Jamie offers an overview of the whole sermon, describing its general shape and key messages, before focusing on the parable of the wise and foolish builders. Jesus calls for a practical response to his words, because they show us how to develop the kind of life and character that will actually be of use to us through the trials of life. This is good news and essential truth not just for disciples, but for the whole world.

Celebrations and Stories

In our first service back after restrictions lifted we were celebrating many things, including the recent wedding of Jamie and Jo. Visiting preacher Dan Copperwheat shared about how stories and parables shape us, and challenged us to consider the character and role we play in God’s story.

The Born Again Identity

We return to the theme of the 'Born Again Identity'. Jesus tells Nicodemus that we need to be born from God. That means effectively that we have a dual heritage, one of the world and one of the spirit; we can choose to see through worldly eyes or spiritual eyes. Jess encourages us as Jesus followers to wake up each day and live fully in our True identity!

The Born (from Above) Ultimatum

As we think about the word 'legacy' we naturally think about what we will leave behind - what inheritance we are leaving for those that follow.
