Message: The Prison System (Act Now!) - Jamie Fredricks
In Acts 16 we read how, while in Philippi, Paul and Silas witness God's power to overcome the evils that hold people captive. Not all prisons have bars, and sometimes we can turn a blind eye to the systems that underwrite these evils.
Wrapping up this leg of our ongoing study through Acts, Jamie reflects on how God's miraculous power blossoms from the soil of counter-cultural faith, love and compassion.

Having considered an overview of woman in the Bible in part one of talk, this week Nick delves into the story of Lydia in Acts 16. We look at the way this passage and the person of Lydia highlights how unconventional being a Christian is, and that God calls us to live out our faith in ways that challenge society’s norms.

This week, we had a special family "Get The Summer Started!" service introducing our Holiday Club, "Taste and See"! Many shenanigans ensued, including "Sundae School", where Jamie explored the differences between rest, leisure, holiday and Sabbath. And some sundaes may have been consumed as well!

Alister reflects upon all things 'vision', and considers how the act of seeing and looking is foundational to our sense of ourselves and the world. Drawing upon several scriptures he challenges us to be mindful of how the images from our eyes can be influenced and even distorted by the preconceived pictures in our heads.
