Concluding our series looking at prayer and the spiritual life of disciples, Jamie shares some thoughts about 'Listening' for the voice of God. As Christians, our spiritual life is not an isolated 'inwardness' but a conversation with the Being at the centre of all Being... God Himself! God is speaking, and we would do well to listen! But Scripture suggests that God speaks in various ways at different times: We would be wise to avoid assumptions and approach with openness, humility and diligence.

This Sunday we were joined by Patrick Wicker who, with his wife Jodi, leads Bognor Vineyard church. The Parable of the Talents can sometimes be viewed as a 'stick to beat ourselves with' - the injunction to try harder and produce more for a God who comes across more like a harsh boss! Instead Patrick encourages us to see how the at the heart of this story is an invitation to Joy: The opportunity to partner with God in the healing of the world and find the wholeness that we seek for our lives.

Sharing from the story of the four people who lowered their paralysed friend through the roof to be healed by Jesus, Sharon explored how amazing love calls us to challenge conventions, look beyond the 'bottom line' and open our hearts with compassion and hospitality.

'Going to Confession' is part of the usual discipleship pattern for millions of our Christian brothers and sisters, but is sometimes viewed with worry or suspicion by others. 'Confession' may bring up really negative ideas of self loathing and shame, but really it is a wonderful antidote to those things. Jamie explores how Confession is a dynamic and essential part of our prayer lives and spiritual wellbeing - connecting us to God's extravagant grace, opening the door to hope, and reminding us of the 'better' that God has for us!
