Value: Intimacy, Rescue, Son-ship (Elisa Evitts, 23rd October 2022)
Tuesday Oct 25, 2022
Tuesday Oct 25, 2022
So much damage can be done by negative messages and beliefs that cause us to doubt our inherent worth as human beings. Using the parables of Luke 15, Elisa demonstrates the incredible value that we have as God's children, and the extraordinary nature of his love for us. This is an essential gateway to living in peace with our God, our selves and one another.

The Flow of Forgiveness (Nick Drury, 16th October 2022)
Monday Oct 17, 2022
Monday Oct 17, 2022
This week Nick considers the theme of forgiveness. We talk about forgiveness over seeking revenge, about the flow of forgiveness from God to us provides the foundation for it to also flow from us to others, and finally about how ‘forgive and remember’ can be a more powerful way of forgiving.

Borders or Bearings? (Jamie Fredricks, 9th October 2022)
Wednesday Oct 12, 2022
Wednesday Oct 12, 2022
Is the church community best understood by the boundaries that it creates around itself, or by its direction of travel? Jamie unpacks two models of thinking about 'the fellowship', looking at the example of Jesus in his 'Nazareth Manifesto' from Luke ch4. We look at the extreme caution which the Bible demonstrates about judging by outward appearances, and instead consider a more personal vision of responsibility and journeying towards Jesus.

In our Harvest Festival Family Service we looked at different ways that we might frame the world and how our outlook can lead to very different assumptions. Do we view things through a lens of scarcity and anxiety, or one of generosity and grace? We linked this to our current series which seeks to explore the nature of the church community and our vision in particular. Despite the challenging circumstances in which we live, we must hold on in faith to the vision that God gives us of an 'overflowing', expansive and inclusive life.

The Making of the Fellowship (Jamie Fredricks, 25th September 2022)
Tuesday Sep 27, 2022
Tuesday Sep 27, 2022
Fittingly, as part of a Baptism service, Jamie begins a new series which aims to explore the idea and reality of Christian community, the ‘Fellowship of the Holy Spirit’. What is the Church? Who is the Church? What is Church for, and what does it mean to be a part of it (or not)? In this message we take an initial look at a vision statement that has been gathering some momentum amongst us, and root it in the advice to the church given in 1 John 4.

Jesus demonstrates this beautifully in John 4 as he talks with a woman who has had a difficult life. Does he criticise or condemn? No! He breaks down the barriers and introduces her to real Love, generous and kind. It’s the everlasting compassionate lovingkindness that welcomes all who will come near…
