Seeing Jesus (Jamie Fredricks, 16th April 2023)
Thursday Apr 20, 2023
Thursday Apr 20, 2023
Following on from Easter Sunday, this week we looked at one of the remarkable stories that took place after the Resurrection. Initially, the disciples on the road to Emmaus were unable to see Jesus, although he was right there in their midst. This reflects much of our own experience, and that of our wider culture! Jamie unpacked some of the ways that they started to perceive his presence and what we might take from them. He also looked in some detail at Jesus’ claim that all of Scripture pointed to himself. What might this mean for the way we use the Bible? And if we lose sight of this fact, are we in danger of missing what is actually unique about Christian faith?

Resurrection Sunday Service 9th April 2023 (Easter)
Tuesday Apr 11, 2023
Tuesday Apr 11, 2023
Our full Easter Sunday service from 9th April 2023, including the baptisms of Gary and Finlay!
Message: The Colours of Resurrection
Our Resurrection Sunday gathering was an opportunity to reflect on the Cross and also marvel at the Empty Tomb! Beginning with a reading of Luke 24, our Easter Sunday all-age service was extra joyful this year as it included two baptisms. These were followed by an illustration led by Amanda, our Early Years pastor, and a Communion reflection led by Jamie, both using the theme of colour to draw us into the meaning of this central day for Christians. What might 'Black', 'Red', 'White', 'Gold', and 'Green' mean for us this Easter."

Cosmic Harmonies: Arranging the Parts (Jamie Fredricks, 2nd April 2023)
Wednesday Apr 05, 2023
Wednesday Apr 05, 2023
On Palm Sunday Jamie shared the final message in our ‘Soul Music’ series, looking at Worship as a reality of life.
Regardless of whether we identify as 'religious' or not, everyone puts faith in something... everyone worships something. These are not questions of metaphysics or belief, but of hierarchy. What do we give time and attention to? In what order? How do we decide between competing needs? What, for us, is 'ultimate'?
Christian spirituality asks us whether the object of our worship ('worth-ship') is 'worthy' of it: Can it bear the 'weight' of our worship? Will it satisfy... or prove inadequate, hollow, or disappointing?
Jamie reflected on the good order that God has placed in Creation, and suggested that many of our stresses, strains and anxieties arise from living lives in conflict with that order.
In a world where so many struggle with truth, meaning, where many cannot find perspective or balance, it is vital to reflect on how God has ordered the Creation; And ask if we are living lives in harmony with the 'Cosmic Music'.

Battle Cries: Changing the Key (Jamie Fredricks, 26th March 2023)
Tuesday Mar 28, 2023
Tuesday Mar 28, 2023
Last week we reflected on how worship, engages with the deepest level of reality, the things of the spirit. This week, Jamie built on this by looking at the role of worship in spiritual warfare: it’s power to affect reality in ways we cannot always understand, but nonetheless are incredibly profound. Looking at three examples from scripture, we explored the power of worship to demolish strongholds, set captives free, and bring respite in the midst of the storms of life, before moving into a time of ministry.

Deep Cries: Feeling the Bass (Jamie Fredricks, 19th March 2023)
Wednesday Mar 22, 2023
Wednesday Mar 22, 2023
This week we began a new series looking at Worship: What does it mean? Who is it for? How does it work? The idea of worship may seem strange in today's world: something archaic or religious. But it's all about 'worth' (that's where the word comes from). What do we value? How do we prioritise? How do we make fundamental choices? Our answers will emerge from the deep rhythms of our lives.
Worship is a practice that engages with the deepest, elemental parts of our being. It is foundational to the human experience: so fundamental that, like breathing, we are oblivious to it much of the time. Jamie considers the relationship between music and worship, and unpacks three common preconceptions that can be unhelpful in our engagement with worship.
